Pillar 05

Inventory & Market Intelligence:
the units that cost more every day they sit.

Aging curves, floorplan burden, stale stock behavior, and remarketing drag that degrade gross and carrying efficiency.

Where aging and floorplan compound against gross

The problem, framed honestly.

Inventory aging is a floorplan interest problem, a gross problem, and a wholesale-recovery problem at the same time. Most DMS reports show one of the three, not all three.

Stale stock is not about individual units. It is about the department-level velocity curve and whether the used car manager is turning at the target rate.

Mechanus IQ resolves aging against market pricing, floorplan carry, and remarketing spread so the unit-level decision has the same math as the department-level one.

Signal inventory

What Mechanus IQ actually looks for.

Each signal corresponds to one or more verified vectors in the Mechanus IQ detection surface. Full inventory: intelligence model.

  1. 01

Aging past 60 days by vehicle class

Compounding floorplan carry and depreciation. Standard DMS aging reports hide the interest cost.

  2. 02

    Market-price gap vs competing rooftops

A used unit priced 8% above comparable listings inside the commute radius will sit. Surfacing the gap lets the desk re-price or wholesale sooner.

  3. 03

    Floorplan interest per unit, rolling

Floorplan interest as a percentage of gross at time of sale. Tells the operator whether the carry is eating the spread.

  4. 04

    Wholesale-recovery spread

Units sent to wholesale and the spread between book and hammer price. Drift indicates either a timing or a condition issue.

  5. 05

    Trade valuation discipline

Overallowance patterns that push aging units into the wholesale channel at a loss.

Gates, not recommendations

The problems we surface do not come back.

Every finding becomes a permanent enforcement gate inside the workflow. Hard gates block the action until resolved. Soft gates page an operator on drift. Audit gates flag the event for scheduled review. How gates work.

Hard gate

Day-60 unit auto-reprice

A used unit that crosses day 60 auto-re-prices to the configured market percentile, with GM sign-off required for an override.

Blocks the action until resolved

Soft gate

Floorplan-burden alert

When floorplan interest exceeds configured % of per-unit gross, the used car manager is paged.

Pages the relevant operator on drift

Audit gate

Wholesale-recovery spread review

Monthly review of wholesale spread, tagged by origin (trade, aged stock, fleet return).

Flags the event for scheduled review
